Structural Designer | Indianapolis, IN

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Indianapolis

Position Summary:

To create structural solutions, assemble instructions and renderings for customers. To support development and growth through innovation, efficiency and creative packaging designs.

Work Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 8-5 pm (Flexible)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Follow established safety rules, policies and procedures at all times
  • Work with vendors on tooling and various design/production supplies
  • Check-in tooling such as cutting dies and printing plates
  • Problem-solve with all departments to support efficient and safe manufacturing processes

Structural Design Role:

  • Prepare ideas, drawings, blueprints and samples for designs
  • Communicate with Account Managers when samples are ready for customers to view
  • Evaluate feasibility of design ideas based on customer needs, appearance, function, serviceability, budget, production costs and methods
  • Modify and refine designs utilizing CAD software
  • Ensure timely completion of drawings and samples to meet customer needs
  • Collaborate directly with customers and Account Managers
  • Assist with recommendations and purchasing of new, improved materials

Sales and Marketing:

  • Assist in the growth of the business by developing relationships with customers and working with sales to effectively use design principles as a sales tool
  • Understand marketing plans and assisting sales with growth opportunities

Desired Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from accredited university with an emphasis in structural/packaging design or Engineering
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Good knowledge and grasp on flexographic printing and manufacturing
  • Aptitude for 3D visualization and design
  • Attention to detail with ability to rapidly change focus between tasks and projects
  • Results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, ArtiosCAD and Illustrator
  • CAD table experience
  • Prior work experience in the corrugated industry is a plus
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
