Title:                    HR Generalist

Reports to:         NY Region Operations Manager

Department:      HR

Position Purpose:

Administers HR processes and associate compensation and benefit programs and oversees talent acquisition, recruitment and selection, and associate onboarding and development in collaboration with Corporate HR and the local New York Region (Syracuse and Rochester) accounting and management teams to optimize HR functions throughout the region.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Tasks related to this position may vary and are not limited to those listed below:

  • Follow established safety rules, company policies and procedures at all times
  • Perform all duties from a foundation of trust and the highest ethical conduct
  • Reinforce BCI Basic Beliefs when executing all position functions and interacting with associates
  • Maintain associate data and documents in HRIS/Payroll system and benefit providers
  • Administer associates benefit enrollments, election updates, and submit add/changes/deletes to benefit providers
  • Manage and administer leaves of absence to comply with employment laws and company policy
  • Process and administer unemployment and workers’ compensation claims with the insurance provider and/or relevant state agency
  • Assist with workplace investigations and completing incident reports arising out of potential unsafe actions
  • Work with outside health care provider in administering required drug screenings and random drug testing per company policy
  • Administer wellness initiatives and help promote and organize the annual health fair event at each New York plant
  • Maintain associate files to ensure a well-organized record of associate documentation relating to new hire requirements, benefit elections, performance, and various required acknowledgments
  • Work with Corporate Controller for year-end census compilation
  • Collaborate with management teams on associate recruitment, talent acquisition, training, development, performance management, disciplines and terminations
  • Assist associates with day-to-day HR requests and help resolve workplace issues
  • Conduct timely and thorough associate onboarding, creating a welcoming and informative experience for new hires
  • Organize and conduct associate training programs in conjunction with Corporate HR
  • Administer BCI Associate Handbook policies and periodic updates throughout the region
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws and company HR policies
  • Collaborate, consult, and communicate with all other departments throughout the region
  • Participate in Corporate sponsored internal HR audit
  • Gather and analyze data and assist Corporate HR with preparation of standard HR metrics reporting (hiring rates, turnover, termination reasons, retention, etc.) and wage studies
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Full-time role in an office/manufacturing setting

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and daily interaction with hourly and salaried associates
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite

Qualifications Desired:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of professional-level HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration/HR
  • Familiarity with relevant state and federal labor and employment laws
  • SHRM or equivalent HR certification preferred
